1. Introduction Casvi is a Computer Algebra System that allows the development of basic and advanced mathematical operations through the use of the Maxima mathematical engine. Casvi allows you to perform various operations from different branches of mathematics, such as algebra, differential calculus, and integral calculus. 2. Installation and Configuration 2.1 System Requirements Your computer must meet the following minimum requirements: - Operating System: Windows 7 SP1 or later - Hard Drive Space: 500 MB 2.2 Installation To install the Casvi system, follow these steps: 2.2.1 Obtain the Casvi.zip installation file. The Casvi.zip file will contain a folder named Casvi. This folder must be extracted to the root of drive C. Within the Casvi folder are the following folders: - Help - Files - CasviFiles - LanguageFiles - Configuration - Fonts - Manuals - Version - Wavs 2.2.2 First, we must install the Braille font. Within the Fonts folder, you will find a file called Braille.ttf. To install the Braille font, open the file and select the install option. 2.2.3 Next, we must configure the Casvi system language. Within the Configuration folder, you will find the Language.txt file. Open this file and enter 1 for Spanish, 2 for English, or 3 for Portuguese (enter only the number of the desired language). Save the changes made to the file. By default, the Casvi system is configured with the Portuguese language. 2.2.4 Additionally, we can set the speed of the Casvi system's speech synthesizer. Within the Configuration folder, you will find the Rate.txt file. Open this file and enter a value between 1 (slow) and 10 (fast). Save the changes you made to the file. By default, the synthesizer speed is set to 5. 2.2.5 Finally, inside the Version folder, you will find the Casvi.exe file. Open this file to run the Casvi system. If desired, you can create a shortcut to the Casvi system on your desktop. Right-click the file and choose Create Shortcut. 2.3 Installing Voices The Casvi system is available in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. To ensure the Casvi system works correctly with each of these languages, we must verify which voices are installed on our computer. To verify which voices are on our computer, follow these steps: 2.3.1 Open the Control Panel and access Ease of Access. In the Ease of Access panel, select the Speech Recognition option. On the left side, select Text-to-Speech. In Speech Properties, we must check which voices are installed. 2.3.2 If we don't have the voice installed for the language we want the Casvi system to operate in (Spanish, English, or Portuguese), we must go to Settings, Time & Language, Language, and Add a Language. 2.3.3 When adding a language (Spanish, English, or Portuguese), we must verify that the desired language has the Text-to-Speech option.
